About: Personal & Chronological Version
This website is the one place on the internet to get a comprehensive overview of Peter Leyden and what I do. You could come across various snatches of what I have done in a wide variety of places on the web over the last 25 years:
Host of the Civilization Salons for The Long Now Foundation, a conversation series looking out 25 years and beyond at the most consequential issues of our time. Senior Fellow for Strategic Foresight at the tech company Autodesk, helping them better understand and prepare for the coming decade.
In recent years I’ve surfaced as the founder of the media startup Reinvent, or the host of the exclusive event series What’s Now San Francisco, or a futurist who gives keynote talks for Keppler Speakers, or a writer of the popular series of stories on Medium called The Transformation.
If you go back farther, I was Managing Editor at the original Wired magazine, or coauthor of books like The Long Boom, or part of a think tank on the future founded by the renowned Stewart Brand. I even did a stint helping transition politics to the internet ino the runup to Barack Obama’s historic 2008 campaign.
So this website is the one place that gives my version of what I’ve done in the past and what I’m doing now. Here I explain how all the pieces fit together and make sense. Below you get the more personal, chronological story of who I am and what I have done in my career.
If you want shorter, more conventional professional bios about me go to Bios. The Home page gives you quick hits on all the various sections of the website that each go deeper into my Speaking, Interviewing, Writing and Advising - what I’m doing now.
